From Europe and beyond

For international patients.

If you are travelling from abroad, we plan your consultation and treatment with you before you set off, in English or Turkish.

A planned process in four steps.

  1. 1

    Preliminary information

Share your symptoms and any blood test, ultrasound, CT or MRI reports via WhatsApp. You will receive general information about possible treatment options and the process; the final decision is made after the examination.

  2. 2

    Planning

The date of the consultation, the hospital and, if needed, the date of surgery are agreed together. How long you may need to stay in Bursa is discussed in advance.

  3. 3

    Consultation and treatment

After the examination and tests, the treatment plan is discussed in person. If surgery is needed, it is performed at Özel Medicabil Nilüfer Hastanesi or Özel Jimer Hastanesi.

  4. 4

    Return home and follow-up

On discharge you receive a written report and a follow-up plan. We stay in touch for your check-ups after you return home and, if needed, work together with your local doctor.

Getting to Bursa.

Thanks to its proximity to Istanbul, Bursa is easy to reach from all over Europe.

By air

The main entry points for patients from Europe are Istanbul Airport (IST) and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW). Bursa Yenişehir Airport has a limited number of domestic flights.

By road

From Istanbul, Bursa is about 2 hours away via the Osmangazi Bridge and the motorway, depending on traffic. Transfers can be arranged through the hospitals’ international patient departments.

By sea

Fast ferries and car ferries run from Istanbul Yenikapı to Bursa Güzelyalı; the crossing takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Consultations in English, support from the hospitals.

Patients living in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and other countries can plan their consultation and treatment in Bursa in advance, for example alongside a visit to Turkey.

Op. Dr. Mücahit Kabar holds consultations in English or Turkish. The hospitals hold Turkey’s health tourism authorisation, and their international patient departments can help with interpreters for other languages, airport transfers and accommodation.

The right time to fly or travel after a procedure depends on the treatment and is discussed with you separately during the consultation.

Prepare before you travel.

  • Blood and urine test results from the last 6–12 months
  • Ultrasound, CT or MRI reports, with the images if possible (CD or digital link)
  • A list of your medications, especially blood thinners
  • Any previous surgical and pathology reports
  • Passport and health insurance details

Frequently asked questions

Can I send my reports before the consultation?

Yes. You can share your reports via WhatsApp, ideally in English or Turkish. This preliminary information helps plan your visit, but it does not replace an examination, and the final treatment decision is made after the consultation.

How long do I need to stay in Bursa?

It depends on the procedure. For a consultation and tests alone, one or two days are usually enough. If surgery is needed, the hospital stay and follow-up visits are roughly planned during the preliminary discussion.

When can I fly home after surgery?

This depends on the type of surgery and how you are recovering. At the check-up before discharge, you will be told when it is appropriate to travel.

How are my check-ups handled after I return home?

On discharge you receive a written report and a follow-up plan. You can have your follow-up tests done where you live and share the results, and if needed you can be followed up together with your local doctor.
